Juan Carrillo Knockout Caps off ‘Big Time Boxing USA’ Card

Juan Carrillo (12-0, 9 KOs) needed only three rounds to get a stoppage win over Quinton Rankin (21-9-2, 16 KOs, 1 NC) on Thursday night.

The 10-round light heavyweight fight headlined an installment of “Big Time Boxing USA” promoted by Salita Promotions. DAZN were the sole broadcasters for this event. The March 28 card took place at the Wayne State Fieldhouse in Detroit, MI. This venue was also the site of Dmitry Salita’s inaugural “Big Time Boxing USA” show that saw Ardreal Holmes Jr. stop Marlon Harrington in two rounds.

Fight recap

The first round was a fairly messy one. Both fighters clinched a number of times and pushed each other to the canvas. The second round saw more of the same, with both fighters struggling to cement their styles.

It did not take long in round three for Carrillo to get the stoppage. A left uppercut followed by a right uppercut sent Rankin to the canvas. Although the American was able to get up just before the count of 10, referee Benjamin Rodriguez deemed him to be in no position to continue. The time of stoppage was 0:27 of round three.

Undercard results

Shohjahon Ergashev (24-1, 21 KOs) won via first-round stoppage against Juan Huertas (17-5-1, 13 KOs) in their 10-round super lightweight contest. Huertas went down from a body shot and was unable to get up from it. The time of stoppage was 2:00.

Husam Al Mashhadi (9-1, 8 KOs) stopped Daulis Prescott (34-21, 26 KOs, 3 NCs) in the opening round. The time of stoppage for this six-round super welterweight fight was 1:47. Prescott got up after being dropped, but referee Rodriguez deemed him to be in no position to continue.

In an eight-round super middleweight fight, William Townsel (7-1, 5 KOs) won via unanimous decision against Nadim Salloum (12-2, 6 KOs). Scores were 80-72 (x2) and 79-73.

Opening the card, Vladimir Shishkin (16-0, 10 KOs) won via seventh-round technical knockout against Mike Guy (12-8-1, 5 KOs, 1 NC). The time of stoppage for this 10-round super middleweight clash was 2:14. Shishkin put on the pressure in round seven, causing referee Daniel Rodriguez to end the fight.
