Just recently, NBA analyst Charles Barkley clowned the New Orleans Pelicans for playing poorly against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the playoffs. His remark, though, has earned the ire of Beyonce and her mother, something the former Phoenix Suns star has apologized for.
Before the former Houston Rockets forward made his joke, the Pelicans lost big time to OKC in Game 4 of their series late last week MVP-candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander dropped 24 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and four steals in almost 37 minutes on the court. Josh Giddey and Jalen Williams each had 21 points, while Luguentz Dort added 12 points and four boards.
The Pelicans, on the other hand, were led by Brandon Ingram’s 19-point performance in Game 4. CJ McCollum made 16 points, even though the point guard only shot 31 percent from the field, while Herb Jones contributed 15 points and seven rebounds.
The loss has pulled NOLA down a 0-3 hole, a predicament no team in the league has ever resolved. On the other hand, teams that have gained a 3-0 league have always successfully eliminated their opponents. If this occurs, the Thunder will get past the first round, a feat that hasn’t happened since Kevin Durant last played in OKC in 2016.
After the Thunder-Pelicans game, Barkley was caught on national television clowning New Orleans by saying they’re on their way to Galveston, Texas. In response, Beyonce’s mother, Tina, posted her reaction to the NBA analyst’s joke on Instagram:

As it stands, Tin Knowles hails from Galveston and she didn’t take kindly to what the former power forward said about her hometown. In response, the NBA analyst apologized for the joke he pulled off recently in a video clip posted by NBA on TNT’s official X account.

Chuck has been known to lose his filter when sharing his thoughts about NBA games and the players themselves. But even if he’s ready to take on anyone in the league, the former Suns star wouldn’t do well to go up against Beyonce or her mother, hence the swift apology he made.
It remains to be seen whether Chuck will have the final say with his apology. What’s certain, though is that Beyonce and her family are no easy pickings, even for the fiery NBA legend.
