Same old story for Eric Bailly as the Manchester United loanee walked off the pitch in the 65th minute in his latest appearance for Marseille.

Bailly started the Ligue 1 side’s Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt, which went 1-0 in favour of the latter, thanks to a goal from Jesper Lindstrom on the brink of half-time.

The Ivorian will be trying to use this loan spell to show that he can stay fit and fight for his place in the team after hitting out at previous managers Jose Mourinho and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He has played four games for Marseille since joining them on loan from United in the summer, but his latest involvement (an injury) is something he would have wanted to avoid.

It shows that shortly after slamming United for ‘favouring’ English players, we were right in saying the biggest issue was Bailly’s fitness, not Mourinho or Solskjaer. He made a point and it has backfired.

It remains to be seen when Bailly will be fully recovered but we all know this is a trend with the former Villarreal centre-back.
